It's National Doughnut Day, what a beautiful day to be alive!
Whether you are vegan or not, doughnuts can make anyone's day, specially mine! It's one of my favorite breakfast items and I'm always looking out for some cool doughnut places in the area. When I lived in Tampa, Fl, my favorite spot was Mini Doughnut Factory because they had an incredible selection of original and fun doughnuts to pick from.
Now that I am living in Atlanta, I wish I could say that finding doughnut places is my favorite thing to do, but most recently, thanks to Everlywell (affiliate link) I found out I had a mild gluten and diary allergy and got incredibly scared of eating gluten. (I had already cut out most diary). I really felt like it was affecting my digestive system and making me feel really bad overall. Regardless, this small change still doesn't stop me completely. One day at a time, right?
Although some Vegan doughnuts do have gluten, many are a better option than regular doughnuts. Free of eggs, dairy, and other animal products, vegan doughnuts are cholesterol-free, and typically contain no saturated fat. And most at-home recipes will be baked, not fried, so they are also lower in total fat. 1
